Care instructions

Canvas (waxed cotton, water-repellent)

Canvas fabric should only be rubbed with cold water and a damp sponge or cloth. Using hot water or soap may dissolve the wax layer. A soft cleaning brush can be used for stubborn stains. Allow the bag to air dry for at least 24 hours.

Corduroy (nylon blended fabric, water repellent)

Cord fabric should be cleaned and dried with lukewarm water, possibly with a mild soap solution and a cloth or soft sponge.

Cotton (lining)

Because the items are not suitable for washing machines, the lining should be cleaned by hand. To do this, the bag should first be turned inside out. Then stubborn crumbs or lint should be removed with a lint roller or brush. The inner lining can then be wiped clean with a damp cloth. Stains can be washed or brushed out with a mild and lukewarm soapy water solution, a cloth or a clothes brush. Allow the item to dry thoroughly afterwards. Leather applications inside the bag should not be washed as well, otherwise water stains may occur.

Tarpaulin (coated and impregnated nylon fabric, waterproof)

The tarpaulin should be cleaned with a mild soapy water solution and a sponge. Special cleaning products for tarpaulins or so-called dirt sponges (very soft sponges, available in every larger specialist shop) are also very useful.

Vegetable tanned and dyed leather

The models from the "stories hunters" line are made of cowhide, the models from the "rough purists" line are made of oiled buffalo leather. These leathers are open, i.e. porous, which makes them react to external influences. Minor scratches can easily be rubbed out with the fingers.

The bags may also show colour irregularities (lighter, darker spots). This is because the leather does not always absorb the vegetable dye uniformly.

The leather can leave a discolouration on light coloured clothing when exposed to high temperatures. These stains can be washed out with a soapy solution (or pre-treatment).

Leather care and regreasing

Leather usually needs much less care than one might think. However, too much of it can change the structure of the leather and damage it permanently. So there is a fine line between "too much" and "too little". In case of doubt, however, "too little" is always better, because re-greasing is always possible, but not degreasing.

The care product should be based on the following:

animal oil/fat or wax/beeswax

The application

Before each application of a care product, the leather is brushed with a horsehair brush if necessary, wiped with a damp cloth and dried at room temperature. This opens the pores and allows an even distribution of the care product in the leather. It is best to apply the care product with a soft cloth. A thin layer is usually sufficient.

The leather will darken as it is applied and may take on a blotchy, irregular appearance. The oil, grease or wax needs some time to spread evenly in the leather. After a few hours, the original condition should be restored, with the restriction that a slight, permanent darkening of the leather will remain. You can now polish the item with a soft cloth.

For all materials, avoid

The following are some cleaning methods that should be avoided on all materials as they may damage or remove the impregnation and invalidate the warranty:

  • Not suitable for washing machines (especially because of the leather and wax on the canvas fabric. Metal fasteners can also damage the washing machine).
  • Do not dry clean
  • Do not tumble dry
  • Do not use solvents or bleach
  • Do not iron or starch
  • Do not artificially dry or expose to open fire
  • Do not expose to direct sunlight for prolonged periods (such as on the luggage compartment shelf concerning the rear window)

Recycling shipping packaging

For shipping our products, we only use cardboard boxes that we reuse. On the one hand, these boxes come from the deliveries of our suppliers, on the other hand, we have agreements with companies that have large quantities of used boxes, which we procure from them and reuse for us.

All our shipping packages are labelled with the sticker 'hello, I am a recycled box'.

Repair service

Traggut Reparaturservice im Haus Nachhaltigkeit

The repair service we have set up in our warehouse is part of our sustainability strategy. If a repair is needed, we are able to repair the product for our customers ourselves, according to our motto: "Repair instead of replace and throw away". Even though the monetary expenditure for a repair is significantly higher, this fits into our concept of sustainable action. For us, sustainability does not only happen in product manufacturing, but is part of our corporate attitude and applies to the entire impact chain.
